HTC’s Touch HD, arguably the best phone currently running Windows Mobile 6.1, is not coming to American shores, and that’s according to HTC itself. That is such a shame. The Touch HD, which has a gargantuan 3.8 inch touch sensitive screen with WVGA (read: 480×800 pixels…on a phone!) resolution surely would have been a runaway success in the US.

That’s because apart from the gorgeous screen, this monster of a phone also has a 5 megapixel camera out back, quad-band GSM, dual-band UMTS for fast data, wireless LAN connectivity, standard 3.5 mm jack for headphones, and 8GB of space with the bundled microSD card. It also comes with the Opera 9.5 web browser, and as you can imagine, browsing the internet on the go is a pleasure on this device because of that huge screen.
As said earlier, it comes with Windows Mobile 6.1, which could be its biggest downfall. Thankfully, HTC covered it up with its TouchFlo 3D interface, making the mobile OS a bit more palatable than the normal plain jane WinMo that comes with other phones.
HTC have said that they have other exciting products slated for future release in the States, but why make us wait when they can just send the Touch HD to these shores, right?
