The iPaq was Compaq’s handheld device, made to compete with the likes of the old Palm PDAs, Sony’s Clie, and HP’s Jornada. After Compaq was acquired by HP several years ago, the little iPaq has soldiered on and like most of its competition, it eventually added wireless capabilities to its feature list.

For some time now though, HP have not released new iPaqs. That is all about to change with the announcement of two new sleek iPaq devices.
The new iPaq Data Messenger and Voice Messenger come with something that a lot of the previous iPaqs never had: style. Available in sleek blue, the new phones run Windows Mobile 6.1 and have full 3G connectivity, wireless LAN, and a-GPS. They also both sport 3.1 megapixel cameras with autofocus and flash.
The bigger Data Messenger is a full touch device, sporting a 2.8 inch touchscreen with QVGA (320×240) resolution. It also has a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard for those averse to typing on the touchscreen. The Voice Messenger on the other hand is a candybar with a half-QWERTY keyboard that has a 2.4 inch screen with the same resolution as the Data Messenger.
Both devices are out now in on Vodafone in the Netherlands, but HP have yet to confirm whether the devices are coming stateside.
